Turkey Time!

I love Thanksgiving! There is so much food and festivities, and food and family time, and food and food! (Did I mention the food?)

And since Turkey is the go-to bird during this season, I thought I would share on of my favorite recipes. This recipe, by Martha Stewart, is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend it!

Food and family has a way of warming the heart, and so I am celebrating this year by having dinner with my family and baking a pie for them.

What are you thankful for this year?

Strawberry Fields Forever

I love strawberries, 100% completely love them.

So this week I thought I would share with you my favorite drink made from…well, you know… STRAWBERRIES!

Agua de fresa (translated to strawberry water) is a drink made from strawberries, water, and sugar.  This drink, which can be made with a variety of fruits, is a delicious and refreshing thirst quencher.

Here is the recipe for your enjoyment:

First, boil water and sugar together (in a ratio of 1 to 1) to create a simple syrup.

While the sugar is dissolving, wash and slice up strawberries (about 2 to 3 cups).

Take the simple syrup off the stove to cool, place sliced strawberries in your blender (tasting a few while you are at it).

Pouring the simple syrup over the strawberries, blend together to create your drink.

Add more sugar, water, or strawberries depending to taste.

Depending on if you like pulp or not, strain your strawberry mixture through a mesh sleeve.

Pour over ice and drink up!

This drink is perfect for a warm day (and I would dare to say that it is even splendid for a rainy day as well).

I HIGHLY recommend making some for yourself, you will not be disappointed!
